Moong Dal Chakli

Moong dal chakli  is a variation of the classic Indian snack made primarily from mung dal (split mung beans). To prepare moong dal chakli, the split mung beans are soaked, drained, and ground into a fine paste. This paste is then mixed with rice flour, besan (gram flour), spices such as cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder, and optionally, asafoetida. The dough is kneaded until smooth and pliable, and then shaped into spiral or star-like patterns using a chakli maker or a piping bag. The shaped dough is deep-fried until golden brown and crispy. Mung dal chakalis have a distinct nutty flavor from the mung dal, coupled with the warmth of spices, making them a delicious and savory snack enjoyed across India.
